M1 Energy Global is a European-based company dedicated to the development and management of e-methanol projects — renewable, low-carbon methanol produced from green hydrogen and captured CO₂.

We are advancing four initiatives worldwide, through an integrated concept that combines abundant renewable energy (hydro + solar), reliable CO₂ sourcing, and advanced methanol synthesis to deliver competitive, scalable solutions for global decarbonization.

Europe-Africa Partnerships

Our Strategy is based on Europe’s energy landscape and access to reliable renewable energy in Africa with a very competitive pricing: High electricity prices in Europe for large industrial users, make large-scale green hydrogen production in Europe challenging.

Meanwhile, Europe generates significant biogenic CO₂ surpluses from industrial sources like ethanol plants and pulp/paper mills — creating an opportunity for export.

This positions CO₂ imports from Europe as a key, reliable bridge for Phase 1 of our projects, leveraging proven logistics via specialized liquefied CO₂ (LCO₂) carriers from European ports to Southern Africa.

A Global Network for Renewable Methanol

In addition to the flagship Southern Africa Project (scaling to 300,000+ tons/year of e-methanol), our other projects focus on synergies across Europe, the US, and beyond — including CO₂ availability from ethanol plants and pulp/paper industries in Europe and North America, integration with existing e-methanol facilities, and expansion pathways that incorporate Direct Ocean Capture and additional biogenic CO₂ sources. This global network strengthens supply chains, enables cross-continental partnerships, and accelerates the transition to renewable methanol for hard-to-abate sectors.

Why Now?

Why Now? The global methanol market (~100 million tons/year today) is set to double or triple in the next 25 years — and 7x to 10x in transportation. Hard-to-abate sectors like shipping, aviation, plastics, and chemicals urgently need renewable alternatives.

Southern Africa stands out with immense hydro and solar potential — offering the most competitive setup for green hydrogen production at dramatically lower electricity costs (25-35 USD/MWh negotiated vs. Europe’s high rates).
